How to Write a Job Application
An application letter is known as a cover letter in
the transmittal of your resume. Although letter of application is similar with
to your resume, you should not repeat the same information as the resume. The main
purpose of the letter of application is getting an interview. The following guidelines
you have to follow in writing your job application letter.
In the opening paragraph, you should gain the
potential employer’s attention. In the middle paragraph, you should convince
the potential employer that you fit the job requirements and prove to the
potential employers with qualifications and your skills. In the last paragraph,
the letter should close with a positive, pleasant interview request. Do not
forget that inside your application letter you should provide your contact
information in order to offer convenience for the potential employer.
Besides that, an application letter should keep it
short and to the point and its lengths should within one to one and a half
pages. Application letter and resumes should not be folded because most
organizations scan letters as well as resumes. Address the application to a
specific person or use simplified format. Remember ask someone to proofread
your application letter carefully; it must be accurate especially the
receiver’s name, organization, address and his or her job position. At last,
you should prepared a targeted letters because it is more powerful than general
letters because you able to show how you can benefit the company.
